Uddhav Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis Meet, Aaditya Thackeray Also Present
Nagpur: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday in his chamber at the Vidhan Bhavan. Uddhav was accompanied by Aaditya Thackeray, Anil Parab, and Varun Sardesai. This meeting took place during the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature. Uddhav Thackeray is also expected to attend the Shiv Sena (UBT) legislative party meeting in the evening.
Aaditya Thackeray’s Statement After the Meeting
After the meeting with CM Fadnavis, Aaditya Thackeray described it as a positive step, stating, “This meeting is an effort to demonstrate political maturity in the interest of Maharashtra and the nation.” He also clarified that there was no discussion regarding the position of Leader of the Opposition.
Mahayuti Alliance’s Status
The Maharashtra Assembly currently does not have a Leader of the Opposition because the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) parties could not meet the 10% seat requirement. MVA secured a total of 46 seats, with Shiv Sena (UBT) winning 20, Congress 16, and NCP (SP) 10 seats. On the other hand, the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP’s Mahayuti alliance won 230 out of the 288 seats.
Uddhav Thackeray’s Attack
Upon arriving in Nagpur, Uddhav Thackeray raised questions regarding the central government’s “One Nation, One Election” initiative. He demanded transparency in the electoral process and reforms in the selection process of election commissioners. However, he did not specify how these reforms should be implemented.
Comment on Ladki Bahin Scheme
Uddhav Thackeray also criticized the Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahin scheme. He said that as per promises made during the assembly elections, women should receive ₹2,100. Currently, under this scheme, women are being provided ₹1,500.
