Will Shaktimaan Happen With Ranveer Singh? Sony Pictures Asked To Replace Him With Ranbir Kapoor Or Cut Budget By 50%

Date:

SHAKTIMAAN FILM FACES CHALLENGES AS SONY PICTURES STRUGGLES TO MOVE FORWARD WITH RANVEER SINGH. THEY’VE BEEN ASKED TO REPLACE HIM WITH RANBIR KAPOOR.

As we all know, Sony Pictures India secured the rights to turn the iconic character of Shaktimaan into a film. However, the journey to bring it to the big screen has been anything but smooth.

Despite having a star-studded team, including Ranveer Singh in the lead role and Basil Joseph, known for Minnal Murali, as the director, the film is facing serious production challenges.

As per a Bollywood Hungama report, Trade sources have revealed that Sony Pictures India has struggled to get the project moving.

A source close to the situation revealed, “Sony Pictures want to make Shaktimaan in the best possible way, but to their surprise, digital platforms are not bullish on the film due to the recent slump in Ranveer Singh’s career.”

Once a box-office favourite, Ranveer’s recent projects, including Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, have underperformed.

Makers Asked To Replace Ranveer Sing By Ranbir Kapoor As Shaktimaan

Although Sony believes they are creating a monumental film with Ranveer as the lead, the market seems to have a different view. OTT platforms have raised doubts about Ranveer’s current stardom, suggesting he might not be the best fit for a superhero role.

Some have even suggested replacing him with Ranbir Kapoor, who is seen as a safer bet for box-office success. “They feel that Ranbir’s star power could bring more security to the project,” the source added.

With a whopping Rs 400 crore budget, Shaktimaan is one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema. The producers were hoping to secure premium deals with OTT platforms and satellite channels to ease the financial burden.

However, these deals are now uncertain because of Ranveer’s recent box-office struggles. “Sony Pictures is struggling to sell Ranveer Singh as a superhero. They need premium deals, which are currently not possible with him attached to the project,” the source explained.

Mukesh Khanna’s Reaction To Ranveer Singh Playing Shaktimaan

Mukesh Khanna, the original Shaktimaan, also reacted to the reports of Ranveer playing the superhero. In an interview with ABP Entertainment Live, Khanna expressed his confusion about the casting and said, “There were photos everywhere. People started believing Ranveer would be Shaktimaan. But they didn’t refute the claims. I asked them why they hadn’t clarified, but they stayed silent. That’s when I realised something was going on behind the scenes.”

Khanna has also raised concerns in the past about Ranveer’s controversial photoshoot, where the actor posed in a revealing manner. Despite the ongoing silence on the issue, Khanna remains firm & states that the casting for Shaktimaan has not been finalised yet.

While Sony Pictures deals with these challenges, the fate of Shaktimaan remains unclear. It’s still unknown whether the film will move forward with Ranveer Singh, albeit with a reduced budget, or if Ranbir Kapoor will be brought in as a safer option.
